ADV  207 INTRODUCTION TO ADVERTISING      (3)

Provides overview of the role and function of advertising in society. Topics include techniques, media, creative strategy, and ad execution for various media channels.  Letter grade only.

 

ADV  299 SPECIAL TOPICS      (1-3)

In-depth study of an aspect, concept, or problem.  Letter grade only.  May be repeated for a maximum of 6 units.  

 

ADV  307 ADVERTISING COPY AND LAYOUT      (3)

Practical application of advertising design techniques and electronic layout. Creative strategy. Intensive practice in copy writing for various media channels. Taught in a computer lab.  Letter grade only.  Course fee required.  Prerequisite: ADV 207 and COM 101 and (ENG 105 or HON 190 or HON 191) with grades greater than or equal to C

 

ADV  310 ADVERTISING MEDIA SELECTION      (3)

Planning, analyzing, and selecting media to advertise goods and services; determining strategies for media selection.  Letter grade only.  Prerequisite: ADV 307 and (MAT 110 or higher)

 

ADV  311W CREATIVE ADVERTISING STRATEGIES      (3)

Developing and implementing advertising strategies as they relate to executing a marketing plan. This course fulfills NAU's junior-level writing requirement.  Letter grade only.  Prerequisite:  ADV 307 and COM 200 with grades greater than or equal to C JWRT

 

ADV  389 COOPERATIVE EDUCATION      (1-12)

Individualized preplanned cooperative employment experience related to your field of study or career objectives. Pass-fail only.  Fee required.  May be repeated for a maximum of 12 units.  Department consent required.

 

ADV  399 SPECIAL TOPICS      (1-3)

In-depth study of an aspect, concept, or problem within a program of study.  Letter grade only.  May be repeated for up to 6 hours of credit.

 

ADV  408 FIELDWORK EXPERIENCE      (1-12)

Individualized supervised field experience in an appropriate agency or organization.  May be repeated for a maximum of 12 units.  Department consent required.  Pass-fail only.  Course fee required.

 

ADV  411C ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS      (3)

Designing complete advertising campaigns with an emphasis on consumer research, market planning, creative production techniques, media selection, and budgeting.  Letter grade only.  May be repeated for a maximum of 6 units.  Prerequisite: ADV 311W or ADV 311 with grade greater than or equal to C CAP

 

ADV  466 LEGISLATIVE INTERNSHIP      (1-12)

Supervised internship in the Arizona Legislature during spring semester. Students are selected on a competitive basis, and you must apply during the fall semester. (To be eligible, you must be a candidate for a bachelor's degree and have completed all lower-division requirements and attained senior status at the end of the fall semester preceding the internship.) Registration is handled by the associate provost for academic administration after the legislature has made its final selection. Pass-fail only.  May be repeated for a maximum of 12 units; not the same subject.  Department consent required.

 

ADV  485 UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH      (1-6)

Original research under the supervision of a research adviser. Pass-fail only.  May be repeated for up to 12 units of credit.  Department consent required.

 

ADV  497 INDEPENDENT STUDY      (1-6)

Individualized approach to selected topics by guided reading and critical evaluation. Pass-fail only.  No repeat limit.   Department consent required.
