Course Credit / Units of Credit

The Arizona Board of Regents has defined a unit of credit, for the institutions under its jurisdiction, as a minimum of 45 units of work per term (or semester). By this definition, a unit of work is the equivalent of:

In addition, courses that last less than one term must involve a one-week period for each unit of credit given. However, during summer sessions, 6 units of credit may be given over a five-week period.

Because the unit of credit as defined by the Arizona Board of Regents is the cornerstone of Northern Arizona University’s academic degree plans, transfer credit must be based on a similar unit of credit.
