Sorting and classifying groups of objects are skills that help young children organize information and see relationships. When the students participate in those kinds of activities, they improve their ability to think critically, make predictions, make comparisons, and draw conclusions. Students will recognize similarities and differences in the rain forest animals they have studied in the rain forest unit when given opportunities to recognize and sort them. The rain forest is a good topic for a theme because children find animals fascinating, especially colorful and different ones. Also, each child will create a storyboard about the attributes which will later be made into a class PowerPoint presentation as a concluding activity. Science and language Arts objectives will be addressed. Grade Level is third and scheduled lesson time is 45 minutes.
