Introduction:
This lesson begins by reading a Mexican Fable, "The Little Red Ant and the Great Big Crumb." The teacher reads this story either the day of lesson or the day before lesson. This story is about an ant, who found a crumb of cake and wants to bring it back to his anthill. The ant finds out that he is the strong and takes pride in bringing the crumb of cake back to the anthill. The story is meant to bring a connection between the Hispanic culture and ants. It is meant to peak the interest of students about ants using a cultural fable. Teacher will ask students to remember a time when they did something they didn't think they could do and how they accomplished the task. The class will discuss this together. Students will be learning about the life cycle of an ant and sequencing the stages of the ant's life cycle.
