Lesson Description:

This lesson will be introducing beginning dance students to the history, development, and steps of the Jitterbug through an interactive group project.  Dance begins with the awareness of the movement of the body.  Therefore, as skills and knowledge are acquired the students will be able to execute dance steps independently, with a partner, and finally in a group dance.  It is essential that high school students practice steps in order to kinetically exhibit and perform movement.  In the Jitterbug activity, students will be able to learn the steps by visually watching and copying the teacher (TPR-Total Physical Response).  As this is the Fine Arts lesson of the Thematic Bug Unit, the students will be focusing on bugs in their Math, Health, and Reading classes.
