This report describes the findings of an assessment of climate change related health effects in Selawik, Alaska. Selawik is an Inupiat community of approximately 829 residents, located on the Selawik River, about four miles north of the Arctic Circle and 70 miles east of Kotzebue. Described health effects include permafrost thaw-driven damage to community infrastructure bridges, roads, houses and water and sewer, decreased food security and safety and increased travel hazards related to river change. May 2012.
