Title:
Incorporating Native American Eco-cultural Systems and First Foods into Exposure and Impact Analysis
Author:
Barbara Harper and Stuart Harris
Date Published:

Description:
This talk will illustrate some of the reasons the authors are undertaking exposure science research, some methods and results, and some broader ecosystem service applications. Exposure research has immediate regulatory application. The work was triggered by the need to develop exposure scenarios for Superfund cleanups. The first goal has been to capture all the exposure pathways in a single scenario, at the level of precision generally used in CERCLA risk assessments. The authors believe that “accuracy” is more equivalent to completeness in identifying all exposure pathways, rather than to focus on narrow studies of single pathways at a higher level of precision. That being said, the authors did develop the complete scenario at a relatively low lever of precision, and are now investigating single pathways in more detail.
