The Cayuga County Ground Water Contamination Superfund is located in central New York on the eastern end of Cayuga Nation. Cayuga Nation is known as the “People of the Great Swamp.” The lake holds cultural significance to multiple Tribal Nations. Community members and people from surrounding Tribes traditionally use the lake waters and wetland areas for cultural and ceremonial practices.
