The Jackpile-Paguate Uranium Mine is located in Paguate, NM on the Pueblo of Laguna Nation. Mining activities were conducted adjacent to the surface waters of the Rio Paguate and Rio Moquino. The community traditionally uses river waters and wetland areas for cultural and ceremonial practices.
Tribal case study of Superfund site on or near Tribal lands that provides basic information that can be used by Tribal staff to identify other Tribes that may have experience to help them navigate the cleanup and remediation efforts related to their own sites.
