The New Bedford Harbor Site is located in four cities in Bristol County, MA on the ancestral lands of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) and Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. The site extends from the northern reaches of the Acushnet River estuary, south through the harbor, and into Buzzards Bay. The Wampanoag community traditionally uses river waters and wetland areas for cultural and ceremonial practices.
-The Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) signed a MOU (2002) to oversee impacts from Remedial Actions on cultural resources.
