- The Sulphur Bank Mercury Mine Superfund Site is located in Lake County, CA on the ancestral lands of the Elem Band of Pomo Indians. Today the site sits directly adjacent to the 50 acre Elem Indian Colony. Mining activities were conducted by the surface waters of Clear Lake. The community traditionally uses lake waters & wetland areas for subsistence, cultural & ceremonial practices.
