Clean North, part of the Ontario Environment Network, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, developed a
volunteer community program to both reuse and recycle computers. The Bring Out Your Dead (B.O.Y.D.)
Computer and Electronics Recycling Event was first held in the spring of 2000 and was carried out twice
per year for seven years. This report describes the program and lessons learned, with recommendations
for other communities seeking to carry out a similar program and keep the residual value in their
community.
