Description
This presentation was delivered as part of the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum: Virtual Gathering in August 2020 by Stuart Walker, USEPA Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation. The target audience for this presentation is site managers (e.g., RPMs, OSCs) and technical staff for US EPA, States, Tribes, and other Federal agencies, contractors, PRPs, and environmental activists that work on radioactively contaminated Superfund sites. The focus of this presentation is US EPA's recommended guidance on ARARs and risk assessment, models, and community involvement tools for remediating radioactively contaminated Superfund sites. The presentation is intended to help the audience obtain knowledge of EPA’s recommended guidance to facilitate cleanups that are consistent with how chemical contaminants are addressed, except where technical differences posed by radiation are addressed. The guidance and tools that are discussed in the presentation are freely available on the internet. The papers from the intern project that Stuart referenced on consumption of plants may be found here: https://clu-in.org/conf/tio/plantcbyt_060320/Maley_Evaluating_Produce_Consumption.pdf and the paper on consumption of animals may be found here: https://clu-in.org/conf/tio/plantcbyt_060320/Maley_Evaluating_Food_Consumption_Fishing_Hunting%20.pdf
