This oversight summary report describes the activities completed and the information collected during Burleson Consulting, Inc. (Burleson) field oversight at the Leviathan Mine Superfund Site (Leviathan Mine) in Alpine County, California. Field oversight was provided from April 27,
2010, through November 18, 2010. Burleson performed oversight for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region IX, under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Sacramento District (Contract No. W91238-08-D-0012). Burleson personnel were on
site once every three weeks during the 2010 Leviathan Mine construction and water treatment season (May to November). The primary focus of field oversight was to: (1) monitor the effects of mine drainage capture and treatment on the quality of Leviathan Creek and associated creeks downstream from the mine, and (2) confirm that work conducted by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board—Lahontan Region (Regional Board) and Atlantic Richfield Company (Atlantic Richfield) followed the approved work plans.
