TAMS Training

Training:
The TAMS Center offers monitoring-related training on a variety of topics. To date, over 200 tribal professionals have been trained by the TAMS Center, representing more than 115 tribes.

TAMS Center courses are designed to complement other American Indian Air Quality Training Program training, generally addressing advanced air quality knowledge and skills. Each course is designed with tribal audiences and issues in mind, integrating tribal case studies and tribal professionals as part of the instructional team. Class size is kept small to ensure a high level of interaction and one-on-one training opportunities.

Most of ITEP's technical air quality training courses are conducted at the TAMS Center, located near the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus in Las Vegas, Nevada. Classes are held at the state-of-the-art Virgil Masayesva Environmental Learning Center and on an outdoor technical training platform that houses various monitors, a fully functional meteorological station, and other equipment. Courses feature tribal, EPA and ITEP instructors and emphasize tribal perspectives.
