Course Description:
This is a course on the fundamentals of siting, installing, maintaining, and collecting data from a meteorological station. The course is intended for those having little or no experience with weather stations, but others
may benefit from the course as well. Applicants should have successfully completed ITEP’s Air Pollution Technology (TECH) course. Preference will be given to those tribes who are actively involved in air quality monitoring.
Lectures will be interspersed with hands-on training. The class size will be limited so that all participants can practice with the equipment.
Topics include:
- Basic meteorological concepts
- Overview of meteorological sensors & equipment
- Siting a meteorological station
- Maintaining a meteorological station
- Sensor calibrations
- QA/QC
- Collecting & managing data
- Uses of meteorological data
Prerequisites:
- Introduction to Tribal Air Quality (or equivalent training/experience)
- Air Quality Computations (or equivalent training/experience)
- Air Pollution Technology (or equivalent training/experience)
