McKenna King

McKenna King joined the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals in July 2023. She is currently the project assistant for the Tribal Pesticide Program Council. Her educational background is in Environmental Science and Psychology. She is passionate about the connection between people and their environment and hopes to support a mutually beneficial relationship between the two through her work. McKenna is currently a graduate student studying Public Health and Nutrition at Northern Arizona University. She hopes to support sustainable food systems to better peoples nutrition and to promote the health of farmers and ecosystems.

Prior to joining ITEP McKenna owned and operated an herbal product line and worked in industrial and small scale agriculture specializing in nursery sciences. She utilized organic pesticides and designed an integrated pest management system specific to the nurseries she served. She has witnessed the need for pesticide regulation and education and is excited to support the Tribal Pesticide Program Council in accomplishing this.

McKenna also has experience as an educator and wellness advocate having worked as a behavioral therapist, a yoga instructor, and as a health coach at Northern Arizona University. She is currently involved in research focusing on motivation related to health behavior change.

In her free time McKenna enjoys hiking with her dog, swimming, gardening, dancing to live music, and spending time with family and friends.
