Course Description:
This course will introduce participants to the uses and operation of low-cost air quality sensors. After taking the course, participants should be able to understand and implement sensors as a
screening tool for their communities. This will include the ability to create and implement a network plan, as well as the ability to capture and present data.
In order to be selected for this course, applicants need a basic understanding of air quality (see pre-requisite below).
Topics include:
- Sensors vs. monitors
- Sensor operation and limitations
- Data storage, retrieval, and processing

Introduction to:
- Quality assurance and quality control
- Network design
- Analyzing data
- Reporting data
Pre-Requisites: If you have no background in air quality, you will need to complete a self-paced online course, offered by EPA’s Air Pollution Training Institute (APTI). This course will not take much of your time and will give you some background in air quality.
