ITEP Professional Development

Our goal is to assist in the professional development and exchange of information for tribal environmental staff to enhance the operations and performance outcomes of Tribal environmental management programs. We strive to achieve this by providing training, resources, and networking opportunites in a broad range of environmental management topics with accomplished trainers and experienced tribal staff.

ITEP offers several options for tribal professional development, including:

National Tribal Forum on Air Quality (NTFAQ)

American Indian Air Quality Training Program Professional Assistance (AIAQTP)

Additional Resources specific to Air Quality Professionals:
AirKnowledge is a partnership training program in EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS). AirKnowledge develops training material to assist EPA, tribal, state, and local air agency staff in implementing aspects of the Clean Air Act managed through OAQPS. Internships and Mentorships

Saturday Academy ITEP offers learning opportunities for tribal youth that are interested in environmental education.

  • The 2025 HAZWOPER 8-Hour Refresher Course is moving to a new platform. If you would like to register for the 2025 course, please complete this form. We will begin registering folks for the course on Monday, January 6, 2025. For questions, please reach out to itep-elearning@nau.edu.

ITEP’s Online Resource Center Access (ORCA) database is a searchable list of electronic resources pertaining to Tribal environmental programs. ORCA includes technical documents and reports, handbooks, videos, brochures, fact sheets, websites, and other types of resources.
