Resources
US EPA Databases
Below is a snapshot of some useful dataset provided by the US EPA. For a comprehensive list of data resources
available from EPA, please visit this site:
edg.epa.gov/metadata/catalog/main/home.page.
AQS - Air Quality System:
AQS contains ambient air pollution & meteorological data (including QA/QC information) collected by
EPA, state, local, and tribal air pollution control agencies from thousands of monitoring stations.
Before using the AQS application, users must register with the EPA. This site contains users guides,
details on upcoming training opportunities, and other important information related to the AQS.

NEI - National Emissions Inventory:
The NEI database contains information on stationary and mobile sources that emit criteria air pollutants
and their precursors, as well as hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). The database includes estimates of annual
emissions, by source, of air pollutants in each area of the country, on an annual basis.

AirData:
The AirData Web site gives you access to air pollution data for the entire United States, compiled from
the EPAâ's AQS and NEI databases. AirData produces reports and maps of air pollution data based on criteria
that you specify.

Envirofacts Data Warehouse:
The Envirofacts Data Warehouse is a single point-of-access to select and view US EPA environmental data.
This website provides access to several EPA databases (including: AFS, PCS, CERCLIS, ECHO and many more)
to provide you with information about environmental activities that may affect air, water, and land
anywhere in the United States. With Envirofacts, you can learn more about these environmental activities
in your area or you can generate maps of environmental information. The data warehouse has both basic
and advanced querying capabilities.

TRI - Toxic Release Inventory:
The Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) is a publicly available EPA database that contains information on toxic
chemical releases and other waste management activities reported annually by certain covered industry groups
as well as federal facilities. TRI Explorer is a searchable online database which lets users quickly get
information about releases and transfers and other waste management activities.

IRIS - Integrated Risk Information System :
IRIS is a database of human health effects that may result from exposure to various substances found in the
environment. IRIS was initially developed for EPA staff in response to a growing demand for consistent information
on chemical substances for use in risk assessments, decision-making and regulatory activities. The information in IRIS
is intended for those without extensive training in toxicology, but with some knowledge of health sciences.
